Project: Turn an Earth Landscape into Alien Landscape

1. Introduce new vocabulary: Reverse, Texture, Motion, Details, Computer, Landscape, Negative , Effects. 2. See examples of landscapes on the computer and from two books, "Exploring landscape art with children" by Gladys S. Blizzardon and "Landscapes" by Peggy Roalf. 3. I will go step by step how to do the project and refresh on how to use the tools to create a landscape, then reversing the colors and adding additional texture, how to save, setting the timer and when finished to go to the drawing table and draw with colored pencils. 4. Create and draw your own landscape using MS Paint on the computer. You can use paint brush, fill, airbrush effect, or whatever technique you choose. You can place a texture from designated texture website into your project or create texture using tools in MS Paint. click on link for texture samples http://www.grsites.com/textures/ 5. Save   the   original landscape to your folder naming it. Type your name and room number on  the bottom   of  each   image saved.   6. On menu bar under  Images, click on Invert. This will give you a reversal of colors to your landscape giving it an "alien" effect. You can then alter or rework any colors or textures to enhance the image. 7. Use copy and paste function of an image and place reversed colored alien landscape beside the earth landscape. 8. Save your alien image in your folder with the previous name and -2 (dash two) attached right to it. Type your name and room number to the   bottom   of  each   image saved.   9. You will have 10 minute sections timed with a timer. Finished project may take several weeks. Once you have completed 3 or 4 time   periods, you should be able to print the project.   10. When finished, you will critique your work. Explain and compare the differences between your alien landscape and earth landscape with the class. 11. When everyone has done their critique, we will have a question and answer about the vocabulary and MS Paint 12.
